america’s top model is the business this season. they are back in nyc and it seems to be shaping up as the the best cycle in a long time. i love that crazy milk-pumping claire. in celebration of being a writer, NOT a model, i made an incredibly fattening salad. i was in the grocery store today and saw one of those “salads” which is really a hunk of iceberg smothered in bleu cheese dressing and sometimes a sprinkle of nuts. i upgraded to romaine hearts and then remembered that i had no mayo. my favorite bleu cheese dressing calls for BOTH mayo and sour cream (i’m out of mayo), so i made hot bacon honey mustard dressing instead.
here’s a word to the wise that works for both bacon and croutons. never make more than you would eat in one sitting. how many slices of bread would you eat with a meal? how many slices of bacon? for me it is two pieces of bacon and 1 slice of bread. once you transfer bacon into crumbles or bread into fried pieces of golden goodness (in this case, fried in bacon fat!) you will eat them. all of them. until they are gone. so be careful.
